Great websites for Spanish students
LANGUAGE LEARNING
Click here for Duolingo which is a free online language learning course in which you earn points for various activities. Creating a username and password is required, but it is free. There are many languages to choose from if you are interested in any other languages such as Italian, Polish, etc. Be sure to get permission from parents before creating an account.
Click here for Polly Lingual which is a new website that I discovered. Like Duolingo, you can learn or practice a variety of languages. I love how the vocabulary is organized by categories, and there are games that you can play here too including a version of Whack a Mole. It is free to practice the vocabulary and use the different games, and no registration is required.
QUIA
Click here to access Quia.com You can play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Battleship and do many other practice activties while practicing. Type a subject or keyword in at the top (Example: La comida, AR Verbs, etc. to narrow down the activities to something you know well or would like to practice)
FUN STUFF:
Click here to go to FreeRice.com where you can practice vocabulary and earn rice for the United Nations Food Bank at the same time. If you are interested in a competition, you can always compete with others in class to see who can get the most rice or who can get to 500 grains of rice first. This is one of my favorite vocabulary builders!
Click here to have the Spanish Akinator guess which famous person you are thinking of by answering a series of yes or no questions in Spanish.
Click here to go to Spark Enthusiasm, a great website created for Spanish teachers and students with links to music videos, entertaining Spanish commercials, cultural videos and more. Update: The link is broken at the moment, but I hope to update it when it is working again.
Click here for a Spanish version of PBS Kids with videos and games in Spanish. Since the website is geared towards young Spanish speaking children, you may not know all the vocabulary, but using what you know and the images, you may be able to figure out a lot of the Spanish.
