TO PRACTICE SPANISH WITH GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
NUMBER PRACTICE:
Click here to practice numbers. Check out what the numbers are and then click "Listening Challenge" for a practice activity. This one is great because you can hear the number and click "See spelling" to see the number.
You can also click here to practice numbers 1-100. You will hear a number and type it in. Click "Next" to find out if you are correct.
VOCABULARY GAMES:
Click here to play Spanish Word BINGO at abcya.com. You get to choose what vocabulary theme to practice (colors, days of the week, animals and more). Great listening practice because you listen to the word and find it on your Bingo board (kind of like we sometimes do in class).
Click here to play Spanish word toss which my students often love. It looks like a carnival balloon popping game with darts, but you only pop the balloon if you choose the balloon with the correct Spanish word on it. Just like the BINGO game above, you can pick what category of words to practice (months of the year, transportation, etc.)
Click here to practice Spanish vocabulary at Freerice.com For each correct answer, you earn 10 grains of rice for the United Nations World Food Program. This is great if you want to learn new vocabulary. It starts with lots of cognates, but it gets more challenging as you go. If you do it, I would love to hear how much rice you earn!
CHILDRENS BOOKS IN SPANISH:
Click here to read children's picture books in Spanish at Unite For Literacy. Just change the language to Spanish in the upper left corner.
Click here to read Spanish stories created by Spanish speaking kids. Some of them are challenging, but they do have pictures to help figure out the meaning, and you might just have fun browsing through them to see what words you recognize and what kids just like you are writing in other countries in Spanish. I like "El Oso Hambriento" - The Hungry Bear.
YOGA AND DANCING IN SPANISH:
Click here to do a four minute yoga video for kids in Spanish with animated animals and slow instructions.
Click here for a five minute instructional video about how to Salsa dance. The instructions are given in English.
CRAFTS INSPIRED FROM SPANISH SPEAKING CULTURES:
Want to do an artistic activity? Click here to learn how to make your own worry dolls from Guatemala. The belief is that you tell your worries to your worry dolls at night, put them under your pillow and in the morning your worries are gone.
Click here for instructions about how to make Castanets with cardboard or paper plates. Castanets are what flamenco dancers hold in their hands to make clicking sounds.
